Hey there! Cassie here, of Lily Shine Boutique, to review the Malibu Misses dress by Modkid Patterns. As the weather is getting warmer, the time is coming for fun and flirty summer dresses. If you are looking to build your spring and summer wardrobe with some self-care sewing, you are going to LOVE the Women’s Bundle Up Promo! Here on Oahu, it’s summer year-round and I am always in the market for some great and comfortable beach wear!

Meet the Malibu Misses dress!

The eye catching detail in this simple summer dress is the neat cross-over back detail. It’s what totally sold me on this pattern! The Malibu misses features an elasticated waist to give a great shape to the dress and give the wearer a comfy fit! There are options for a maxi length or a mini length (shown here). Malibu Misses also has a full back option for those who want more coverage. I love the comfortable fit and easy shape to the Malibu, and found it figure-flattering for various body shapes. After taking bust, waist and hip measurements, I grabbed some of my fun, beachy-print knit and went right to work.

The dress pattern has great instructions accompanied by color illustrations. The tutorial contains wonderful tips and various options to create your one of a kind summer dress. If you are new to knits, the designer has included a wonderful guide to choosing the correct knit and various hemming options to ease you into play with stretch fabrics. If you are like me and have a hard time finding store-bought clothing that fits perfectly from top to bottom, you’ll want to check out the great sizing guide to select the perfect blend of sizes. One of the great perks of sewing your own garments is that you can adjust the pattern to fit your body shape and proportions! The Malibu dress sewed up in about 2 hours from cut to finish. My model loves the dress. In fact, she is still wearing it now! I am excited to keep this pattern as a staple in my wardrobe and make many more combinations to come!
