Aubrey Knit Dress by modkid

Gosh it feels like its been FOREVER since i’ve had a bit of sewing to share with you all!  Its so nice to be back after the summer break.  I’ve been working on our back to school wardrobe and I have a great dress to share today that is just a perfect addition to the closet.   Say hello to the Aubrey Dress, the newest pattern from Modkid.

This fun dress has a unique hidden front pocket that is unlike anything else i’ve made recently and I love that it lends something new to change up the styles a bit.

The pattern ranges from size 2T-12.  This is an awesome range for this dress since it really is just as ‘cool’ for the older girls as it is fun for the little ones.  At 8 my daughter still loves anything with pockets so I generally know if it has a place to her to stash a few figurines or her ipod, it will be a hit!  (and really who, am I kidding??  A dress with pockets is my dream dress too!)

While the pocket might seem intimidating, the directions and diagrams are so easy to follow, making this a great pattern even for a beginner.  Patty and her team also put together a great section at the end about the different kinds of hems for knits and lots of other tips along the way.

There are 3 sleeve lengths to chose from, making this ideal for any season.  I also love that the outer curved pieces and sleeves can easily be made from larger scraps you might have laying around.  There’s so many variations and fabric combinations you could do to give it different looks.  I let Ry chose the fabrics for this one and they suit her perfectly!  This Rey and BB8 fabric from HAPA Fabrics was a huge hit!
