Annalise high-low top by Modkid

Hi, Rachel here today with a fun new pattern from Modkid. The Annalise top and vest is a cute and on-trend pattern that can be worn sleeveless for summer or layered for spring and fall. It’s got a low-high hem that features a wide hemline ruffle, which is a perfect place for lace or other fun trims. I used soft mesh tulle that I found in the discontinued colors section at Joanns and it worked perfectly for this!

I sewed up the top/tunic version for Miss P, and sewed a size 6 based on her measurements. There’s a fair amount of ease built into the pattern, which is designed for wovens, and I’ll probably size down the next time I sew this one as she is on the smaller end of the size range and the pattern is a bit wide for her narrow frame. In the meantime, we layered with a long sleeve tee and it looks sweet for school or a family barbeque!

The pattern includes sizes 2T-10, and as with all Modkid patterns, designer Patty Young includes lots of tips and tricks so even those new to sewing can navigate the pattern without much difficulty. Both the top and vest include two tiny pintucks on either side of the placket, which are one of my favorite ways to add detail. Patty’s directions make them easy to execute and they add a nice dimension to the finished product. I used KAM snaps for my placket, but you can certainly do buttons just as easily. At the end of the pattern, Patty always includes tester photos with details about what size was sewn and what types of fabrics were used; I love looking through these for inspiration!
