Create HOPE Sew Along Day 3

Color Block Tote Sew A Long - Day 3

Welcome back to our sew a long! We are working on the Color Block Tote by Aivilo Charlotte Designs; this pattern is available exclusively at Create HOPE Designs. It's a quick and easy sew, so it won't be hard to catch up if you're just joining me.

First of all, I have to confess that I noticed a typo in the numbering in step 2! Sorry about that! Luckily it does not affect construction of the bag in any way, and if you just follow the steps in order on the page, you'll be fine. I am happy to send anyone who emails me with proof of purchase an updated pdf with the correct numbering - just shoot me an email at aivilocharlotte@gmail.com. I have also sent an updated copy to Create HOPE Designs so future purchasers should have a corrected version of the file.

Today we are starting on step 2, which begins on page 4. Sew your straps as directed in 2.1, and then we'll make the pocket. It's a simple patch pocket, and only takes a few minutes. Simply sew the pieces together with right sides facing together, leaving a couple of inches unsewn along the bottom so you can turn it right side out. Clip the corners as shown in the picture so that the corners of the pockets will lie flat, and then turn the pocket right side out.

Press the pocket flat, and then top-stitch across the top of the pocket about 1/4" from the edge. Pin the pocket to one of the interior pieces, and sew around the sides and bottom of the pocket.

That's it for today! Wasn't that easy? Tomorrow we're going to do the bag closure and assemble the interior and exterior of the bag. See you then!
