Who's ready for a sew along? I know I am. I'm excited because I've never done this before. I'm stepping outside my comfort zone to not only host a sew along, but also because this is self care sewing. Yes, that's right ladies, we are going to be sewing for ourselves instead of our little ones. I have just started sewing things for myself over the last few months, and I am really enjoying it. I am a plus size woman so I have come to hate shopping because I can never find something that fits right and that I like. Thanks to more self care sewing, now mommy gets new things, too!
For this sew along, we will be making the Lesley Flutter Top for Women by Seamingly Smitten, found HERE. It covers lots of sizes with a range of XS-XXXL (0-26), so hopefully many of you can join in on the fun. The sew along will run from May 5th-May 12th. Don't have this pattern yet? Well, you are in luck. Purchase this pattern between April 28th-May 18th (that's a full week before, the week of, AND the week after the sew along!!) and use code SEWALONG50 to receive 50% off your purchase!
Here's the schedule for our sew along:
May 5th-May 7th: If you haven't already done so, purchase your pattern using the sale code, SEWALONG50. Get your shop on ladies! Find yourself the perfect fabric for this project and gather any notions you may need. Once you have that fabric, wash it up and get it ready to go!
A great place to find knits is from our sponsor Girl Charlee!
May 8th: Pattern pages 1-4: Print out your pattern, get it taped together and cut out your pattern pieces. Cut out all pieces from your fabric. If you are using bias tape to finish your neckline and are making your own, go ahead and prepare that while you are cutting so you will be ready for that step tomorrow. If you are using store bought bias tape or are going to hem your neckline, you are done once your fabric pieces are cut out.
May 9th: Pattern pages 5-6 (stopping at step 14) : Time to start doing some sewing. Focus: neckline.
May 10th: Pattern pages 6 (beginning at step 15/16)- 8: Today you will be working on your contrasting band (IF you are doing this option), hemming your armholes, sewing your front and back together and checking the fit before finishing up. If you need to make any alterations, go ahead and get those done today.
May 11th: Pattern pages 9-10: Time to finish up! You'll be hemming your top and creating the flutter sleeves.
May 12th: Did you fall behind this week? That's okay, it happens! Get caught up today. Be sure to share your photos of your lovely new Lesley Flutter Top in the album on the Pattern Revolution Facebook Group. The album will remain open until May 17th to share your photos and trust me, you want to share them because there just might be some prizes to win. **cough, cough, patterns anyone, cough, cough** ;)
