The Resort Collection by Violette Field Threads

Today's post features the rest of the patterns from the Resort Collection by Violette Field Threads,  In addition to some of the patterns from yesterday, this post also includes the Pixie dress and the Leilani Mermaid Tail cover-up.

Pippa bikini and Samantha cover-up:

Full of sweet vintage charm, Pippa is a two-piece swimsuit that will draw the attention of any fellow beach babes. It features a halter top with sweetheart bodice and a ruffle-skirted bottom.  Samantha is a comfortable and flowy swimsuit cover-up that comes in two lengths, dress, which I sewed, and tunic.  This one was a super quick sew that would make a perfect gift for all of those summer birthday parties! The designers at Violette Field Threads did a fabulous job writing a detailed tutorial on sewing with swim knits. Check out their entire resort collection and get ready to hit the beach, lake or pool!

Leilani Mermaid tail and Samantha cover-up:

Hello, Heather from All Things Katy!, here! Summer is here and that means LOTS of water play for my little one! Between summer fun in the neighborhood pool, summer swim team AND an upcoming family cruise to the Caribbean, we’ll be spending LOTS of time poolside! That also means a lot of travel to and from the pool- preferably in chic new, mama-made cover-ups! ;-)

I sewed up both of the new cover-ups in the Violette Field Threads “Resort Collection”- The Samantha and The Leilani. The Samantha is a loose-fitting cover-up in woven and the Leilani is a fun mermaid “tail” in swim knit. Both are super easy to sew (I sewed up the Leilani in less than 20 minutes!) and fun to wear (seriously, what little girl wouldn’t love a mermaid “tail” cover-up?! ;-)!! Oh, and did I mention that both patterns also come in doll sizes, too (sold separately)?! How fun is that!? Sew much fun!

Pixie Dress:

I sewed the Pixie in dress length for Miss P, and it’s the perfect pattern for print mixing. In this case, I’ve been waiting for a good reason to use my Boardwalk Delight prints from Art Gallery Fabrics, and they were a great match for Pixie. I sewed a straight size 7 based on my girl’s measurements, and the fit was exactly as expected. I did take a smaller hem than allowed for in the pattern so it wouldn’t be super short for her - she’s been growing like a weed lately! I used three prints, and a cotton twill tape for the back ties. The silhouette is relaxed and breezy, and we’ll be taking this dress to the beach - and the boardwalk - with us this summer for sure!

Until next time, Rachel
