AD Challenge: Chloe Dress and Maxi by Laela Jeyne Patterns

Hi! My name is Marisa and I own a pattern design company called Laela Jeyne Patterns. I'm a work at home mommy to my two beautiful daughter's and I have a pretty awesome hubby too! I love to sew and I sew pretty much everyday either for work or pleasure. PDF patternmaking is quickly becoming a serious hobby for me and I love to translate my ideas and inspiration into a piece of clothing for everyone to sew.

AD Challenge: Simply Sweats and Shorts by Dandelions n' Dungarees

I am <del>sew</del> so excited to be blogging about the current Aspiring Designer's Challenge.  Thanks for joining us. I don't know about you, but sometimes outfitting my kids can seem a bit overwhelming.  I love them to wear hand made and they love to wear it, but sometimes I run out of time, and we end up at a Big Box Store.  Don't get me wrong, I love to shop as much as the next gal, but my fabric <del>hoard</del> stash MIGHT BE out of control. And I should mention I live with the modesty police and a lot of girls' shorts on the market are not long enough to suit her.

AD Challenge: Noisy Dirt Cargo Shorts by Koda Baby

AD Challenge: Noisy Dirt Cargo Shorts by Koda Baby

My new pattern being released today, the Noisy Dirt Cargo Shorts, feature large cargo pockets with gussets. These can hold huge amounts of 'stuff' that boys insist are so important to carry around! There are also two welt pockets on the back for extra 'stuff'. They are designed to come to just below the knee or mid shin and the crotch sits a little bit lower than standard shorts - more "slouch" style. I have written the pattern to have them resemble 'cut offs' or 'designer fray' on the bottom hem and also on the belt loops.

AD Challenge: The Trumpet Flower Dress by MCM Studio Designs

AD Challenge: The Trumpet Flower Dress by MCM Studio Designs

The name of this pattern is "The Trumpet Flower Dress". It is inspired by one of my childhood memories. Years ago while visiting my cousins in Alabama, I remember playing with the trumpet flowers that grew in their backyard. We picked the flowers and turned them upside down and made believe that they were ballerinas, the petals of the flowers being their dresses. The skirt of this dress is designed to recreate that idea.

AD Challenge: Pearl Shrug by Gracious Threads

My name is Jess, and I am the designer behind Gracious Threads. I live with my husband and 3 (very soon to be 4!) kids on our dairy farm in northern Alberta, Canada. I began blogging and designing just over a year ago as a way to share my love of sewing and to challenge myself while on maternity leave. I've learned so many new skills in the past year, and currently have 18 patterns available for purchase, for girls, boys, and women. My latest pattern is the Pearl Shrug. It is sewn out of knits for comfort, and includes options for long or short sleeves.
