My Childhood Treasures' Christmas Stocking

If you've been in any of the major department stores in the last week, it's beginning to look a lot less like Fall and a whole lot more like Christmas! I know that sounds like a rush to some people, but when you sew for the holidays, you know that starting early is important. So here's a sweet pattern from My Childhood Treasures for a Christmas Stocking! Read on to see what Andrea and Brianne had to say about it!

Hi there, it's Andrea from Boysterous Boyswear and I am writing to you this week about the Christmas stocking from My Childhood Treasures.

Christmas Stocking by My Childhood Treasures- Pattern Revolution

I love Christmas, I mean I love it - I'm one of those adults (I use the word loosely) who is up before the children on Christmas morning.  I love the lead up to to it, Christmas carols, the hustle and bustle in the shops and the excitement on the little ones faces the night before.  When we were little (that's a lie I still did it at 17 - in fact I'm pretty sure my sister who has just turned 30 and still lives at home still does it) we used to take one of Dad's work socks and stick them on our beds. In the morning as if by magic they were stuffed with all sorts of exciting goodies - the rule was that we were allowed to open our stocking (worksock) but not allowed to go into the living room - I think it was a ploy to let Mum and Dad sleep longer.  I am now Mummy to 6 boys and every year since learning to sew, I have wanted to make my boys some personalised Christmas stockings so I jumped at the chance to take part in this review.

This pattern is fantastic - straightforward, easy to follow, fast to sew up and comes with an unbelievable number of applique options.  I made up half of the 6 that I need to make before Christmas. Whilst I cheated slightly (I used my embroidery machine to personalise the stockings - a full alphabet of letter applique patterns are provided), it took me 2 hours from start to finish for all 3.  The pattern comes in 4 different sizes:
SM 12 1/2in
MED 16 3/4in
LGE 20in
 XL 24 in

The large looked the best size to me so that's what I went with (of course the bigger you make it the more presents you have to put in it). The pattern includes a variety of Christmas appliques, Christmas trees, holly, stars, baubles, hearts and a bow pattern - which I put to use around my Mr 6's neck, hehe!   Also included are some bone shapes perfect for making stockings for furry members of the family.
A great fun sew and one that has had the boys asking, "Can we pleeeease put up the Christmas tree yet?"

Howdy, Brianne here from Ali Cat  & Co!

Those are all options included with the new Christmas Stocking pattern by My Childhood Treasures!

My Childhood Treasures knocked it out of the park with the stocking pattern, as with all of their patterns.  The Stocking is perfect for a newbie sewist or even a professional.  With an endless amount of options, you can make a unique stocking for all 73 members of your family.

The instructions outline exactly how to do the appliques (no embroidery machine necessary)!

Ali is into Toy Story, specifically Jessie. I color blocked the main portion of the stocking and added red rope to the cuff to mimic Jessie's cowgirl outfit.

Cookie is a girly girl. She likes tutus.  For hers I picked a fun, bright main fabric and ruffled the lace cuff.

I finished up these two stockings in about an hour. I did the small size for both girls.  As I admired the stockings; I had a grand idea.  Because of the 4 different sizes, these stockings would make a PERFECT gift bag!

And what is more perfect than a wine gift bag?  Only the wine itself!

If you haven't checked out all of My Childhood Treasures, go do it now.  They seriously have some of the cutest patterns for boys and girls.  I am in love with Bluebell DressElkeHeidiMonster Hoodie....all of their patterns, honestly.
