And now for our first pattern, the Women's Clemence Shorts from Filles a Maman: a review from Ellen, with additional photos by Rebecca.

Hi!  It’s Ellen from ellzabelle.  I’m excited to show you these beautiful women’s shorts from Filles a Maman.  The Clemence shorts are really pretty and comfy.  They have a side zipper and you can choose from 3 different styles in the front.  I chose style C, with just one scallop on each side in the front.  I added two little buttons instead of one big one on each side.  My fabric is leftover from making my daughter a dress.  There’s a bit of stretch in them that makes them extra comfortable.

This pattern is rated intermediate and I would agree.  It took me a bit to understand the zipper and waistband part.  I am very inexperienced in this area, so I was very slow.  The pattern does include line drawings at each step PLUS additional photos to help in many steps.  I found this to be very helpful.  I found my size based on my hips, then adjusted the waist as the pattern explains.  This was very easy and worked out perfectly!  The only adjustment I made was to add an inch to the length since I’m tall.  I think I could have added a bit more too….but I LOVE them.  There’s also a Bermuda length option.  I bought the children’s Clemence shorts pattern previously so I can’t wait to make some matching shorts with my daughter.  I’m thinking a fun tribal print, floral, or even lace!  I think these will be a nice addition for summer.
Till next time!
Ellen
