Maisie by Violette Field Threads

Hey there! Cassie from Lily Shine here to review the newest pattern from the amazingly talented ladies over at Violette Field Threads, Maisie. This dress pattern is just as sweet as its name and my darling girl is in love with her new dress!

Maisie is an advanced beginner/intermediate pattern that features a cute tie sleeve, exposed or traditional zipper back closure and either a full or slim skirt in dress or top length. A large size range, 12/18 mo through girls size 10, is included. I followed the directions for adding ease and the finished measurement chart vs my daughters measurements and because she fell in between sizes, I decided to make the larger size. It ended up being a bit wide across the chest/shoulders but after a good wash and shrink, it fit much better. I know she’ll grow and get lots of good wear from this dress!

The pattern sews together nicely, with a bit of time and focus needed to create the sleeve ties. I was able to sew up the Maisie dress in one sitting, taking about 2-3 hours from start to finish (with some snack breaks and distractions in between). I love the cut of the bodice and the pretty scoop back. The sleeves have a sweet little puff to them and of course the ties are just darling!

Violette Field Threads has recently started offering rectangle measurement cutting charts in addition to printable rectangle pattern pieces, which helps those who don’t have large cutting surfaces and a straight edge as well as appease those who want to save paper and just measure out the piece themselves. A win-win in my opinion!!! If using the cutting charts, the pages to print reduces from 34 to 5!

I enjoyed sewing up this cute Maisie and look forward to sewing more in the future! Bernadette, one of the new designers for the VFT team, continues to do a wonderful job with her designs and I am eager to see what she creates next!
