The Ruchie Dress by Little Lizard King

Hello! It's been a long time since I've been able to stretch my pattern review muscles, and I can't think of a better way to jump back in than with Little Lizard King! Today I'm here to review one of their newest patterns, the Ruchie. Now, the Ruchie is a multifaceted pattern and has so many variations you'll be doing your best Cuba Gooding, Jr. and saying, "SHOW ME THE OPTIONS!"

Options really are the  name of the game here with a peplum top, a dress, and a romper (sizes 0-3m through 8). You also get instructions for a strap loop in the back and a snap crotch. The full length, ruched bodice features a sweetheart neckline, halter ties. and a back fitted with elastic casings.  I sewed the dress version with the halter straps with no back loop, though a future version will include that for sure.

This was a pretty fast sew, but the elastic casings will take a bit of time. I didn't notice when I picked the fabric, but this tiled print from Color Brigade by Jennifer Paganelli was perfect for lining up my casings. I am a very slow sewist, so this probably took me 3 hours to complete. I wish I would have paid more attention when I trimmed the seam allowance on my sweetheart neckline...I would have had a nice, flat finish. Sewing around the ruching can be tricky, but if you take your time and follow Cassie's steps, you'll have a gorgeous summer outfit that your girl will be so excited to wear.

My sweet girl was too excited when she realized that this dress was for her! I have a feeling it will be a go-to for our summer wardrobe. Topping it off with the Sweet Grace Ruffled Headband from Izzy & Ivy Designs makes it the perfect ensemble for any warm-weather event.

So the question is...what Ruchie will you sew first?!?!
