Vivian Shirtdress and Nightgown by MODKID

Hello! Today we are showing off the Vivian Shirtdress and Nightgown pattern from MODKID using Patti Young's newest line from Riley Blake: Primavera.   I have to tell you that I was so surprised by the MODKID Vivian pattern, in a good way.  I hate sewing buttonholes, it is not fun.  When I got this pattern, I was so nervous about ALL the buttonholes.  The Vivian pattern orders the construction in a way that makes the buttonholes so much easier to sew.  I love the way this pattern comes together.

The Vivian is a very easy pattern, I know that sounds strange.  A collar, buttonholes, slits on the side; all sound very difficult.  The order this pattern is put together makes it a very easy pattern.  A fundamental knowledge of sewing is still important but this would be a great pattern for someone that really wants to stretch their sewing skills.

I made a size 7 and I think the fit is good.  My “Little” is very short so everything is long on her.

There are so many options for the Vivian as well.  The pattern can be made with short sleeves, long sleeves, or as a sleepdress with no collar.  I like that there are two completely different uses for this pattern, PJ’s or a dress, so that I can use the same patterns for a few different things.  This would be adorable layered over leggings or as a cute summer dress.  With the option of short or long sleeves, it is an all season dress! As a plus, the collar makes it school dress code friendly.

Such a cute dress! Teronia also sewed up a version of the Vivian using the Primavera Cotton line from Riley Blake:
