Cordelia Peplum Sew Along Day 1

“Will you please call me Cordelia?” she said eagerly.

“Call you Cordelia! Is that your name?”
“No-o-o, it’s not exactly my name, but I would love to be called Cordelia.  It’s such a perfectly elegant name.”

Hello, my name is Jessica Fulton and I am a My Little Plumcake fan.  I'd love to believe this was the exchange between Michelle Robertson, the designer for My Little Plumcake Patterns, and her latest pattern, the Cordelia Sweetheart Peplum Top.  However the above quote is from one of my all-time favorite books, Anne of Green Gables.  Not only is the name Cordelia "a perfectly elegant name", but did you know it also means "Heart"?  How appropriate then is the name Cordelia for this top with its elegant peplum, Peter Pan collar and that oh so sweet...sweetheart neckline?! Crystal Dekker over at Ginger Dimples is the social media coordinator for MLP and she had the pleasure of testing and naming this pattern. What a terrific name, Crystal...bravo! Crystal also turned the Cordelia into this stunning strawberry costume for her daughter...can you believe the awesome possibilities that await you with this pattern?! Get your copy at My Little Plumcake's Etsy shop while it is still on sale.

The pattern made its debut in the My Little Plumcake shop just last week.  To properly debut it, we decided to hold a sew a long! Michelle has so generously listed the pattern at 25% off in honor of the sew along.  The Cordelia Sew Along kicks off today and will end on Friday, October 25. However since many of you are weekend sewing warriors you will have until Monday, October 28 to submit your final entry.

All week long you can follow us here on Pattern Revolution, but better yet come join us over at the My Little Plumcake Pattern Group on Facebook. There you will see everyone posting their daily accomplishments and can get support if you have questions.  There will be lots of MLP fans, such as myself, there to help cheer you on or answer questions if you get stuck. I also heard there may be some prizes handed out to a few lucky sew along participants. You won't want to miss out!

Since today is Day 1 of the Cordelia Sew Along, why don't I give you a head's up as to what we will be doing over in the My Little Plumcake Pattern Group. The first thing you should do, if you haven't already, is buy your copy of the Cordelia Sweetheart Peplum Top.  You will need to assemble it and then dig through your stash or head over to your favorite fabric shop and select your fabrics.

The pattern is designed for wovens and features an optional lace overlay on the bodice. It is perfect for using up those scrap bits of lace leftover from other projects!  If you don't have any lace or don't care for the look of lace then it can easily be omitted.  You would simply substitute the lace for a woven to your liking.  Once you have assembled your pattern and cut your fabrics, please post a pic over in the My Little Plumcake Pattern Group.  We can't wait to see all the delicious fabric combos the sew along participants come up with!

If you are new to sewing or have never participated in a sew along, then never fear...Michelle, Crystal, and myself are here!  Along with the other participating MLP fans who will be more than happy to answer any and all of your questions. After all, isn't that the best part of a sew along...chit chatting about our project as we go! Even though we may be miles apart and only meet virtually, we can always keep the following quote in mind...
“True friends are always together in spirit. (Anne Shirley)”
