Kits Fit for a Princess: Snow White

I love when I get exciting e-mails in my inbox.... exciting e-mails are anything that start with 'Hey Suzanne, we'd love to send you X to sew......'   Ummmm, yes please!!!  Where is my 'will work for fabric' shirt?????  Hahahahaha, just teasing, but my husband certainly appreciates when he sees me sewing and doing what I love without watching our bank account dwindle to $0.

The Kits include Micheal Miller's Fairly Frost Collection

So let's just say that I might have been jumping up and down when I received an e-mail from Jennifer Bailey of Bailey Girls.  She explained how they were teaming up with the ever amazing Made For Mermaids to sell Princess Kits.  I was, and still am, floating on cloud nine... you see, this is the very FIRST princess dress that I have made for my baby girl.

I was given a choice of princesses, and quickly settled on Snow White (my favorite).  You can find all of the princess kits listed for sale HERE which include:

  • Snow White
  • Rapunzel
  • Belle
  • Cinderella
  • and Anna

So why a kit?  Well for me, and I am sure every other sewing mama with kids nipping at their heals, getting all the fabric AND notions you need for any given project can take anywhere from one trip to the fabric store across town or a gazillion.  And entering said fabric store with three said nippers under foot can be a cause of heart palpitations resulting in your baby girl still not having a single princess dress!!!!  But a KIT, well a kit is mailed directly to your door, a kit contains the pattern and every single thing you could possibly need  (except thread and a sewing machine), a kit helps sanity reign in your home, and a kit transforms your wall climbing/mud eating/shrieking toddler into.....a PRINCESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

And here is the story of Snow White in Photos:

With some of my left overs, I made a matching headband to complete the look.  You may be wondering why my dress looks a bit short, well - I really love the vintage look with bloomers, so I just cut my skirt at the length with ruffle, and then left the ruffle off.  I have plenty of material left to add the ruffle as she grows.  I love all the details in this pattern, like the ribbon on the sleeves and the bow in the back.  I used a zig zag stitch with red thread as a decorative detail.  You could easily customize other elements to get a variety of looks.
