Get 'Dressed' and Sew Yourself Some Love

Dresses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We all love dresses, right.... no!?!?!?  Well maybe you haven't found your perfect dress yet.  The thing I love about dresses is their ability to easily transition from day to night with accessories, and the fact that they are generally easy to move in while running after my kiddos.  I layer dresses in fall and winter with leggings, boots, and a cardigan or cute jacket.  In Spring and summer I can throw on cute flats or high heels to transform from the park to date night - HA, date night... oh I wish, but they do happen occasionally!  Sarah and Andrea are sharing some great dresses that just might become your next wardrobe staple.

Hi there!  This is Sarah and I am stepping out of my comfort zone to sew a little something for myself.  Sure, I sew for myself from time to time, but I am realizing more and more that I need to add some of the cute and comfy pieces to my own wardrobe as often as I do my girls.

But let's face it; sewing for ourselves is more fabric, more work and harder to fit. But I think it come with rewards that outweigh the challenges.  Since February is Sew Yourself Some Love month, I figured it was a good time to get started and chose a style I figured would be easy to fit and not too much of a draw on my time.

I made myself the Catalina Dress by Blank Slate.  The pattern was really quick and easy, so I was able to make it up and still have plenty of time to sew those adorable little dresses that my girls love so much.

I made mine out of french terry and it makes me think about walking out on the beach or eating dinner at a seaside restaurant.  More likely it will be a "running the kids to swim practice and, if I am lucky, stopping by the coffee shop" dress...but a girl can dream right?

I am going to try to start sewing myself some love more often.  With patterns this quick, I could easily add one or two items a month into my schedule!  I will let you know next year if I stuck to that schedule...

Until next time...

Sarah

Andrea also went for a stylish and fun dress by making the Tortola Tank Dress by Sisboom - another simple and great dress for running after the kids while still looking chic!
