Pretty Pansy Dress by Ruby Jeans Closet

I love that we are starting to look at patterns for SPRING - the temperatures are supposed to drop down to nothing-ness tonight with a chance of snow, but the last two days it was in the upper 50's and you could feel Spring on the horizon!

Today, we take a look at the Ruby Jean Closet Pretty Pansy Dress - this is such a sweet style that can easily fit your mood and style simply based on the fabric you choose.  I love Serena's choice of a bright color palette!  Pair it with leggings, bloomers, or knickers and you have the perfect spring and summer look on your hands.  This pattern let you choose any length from Mini/tunic to Maxi, allowing you to customize the look for your child.  With straps that can either tie as a halter or criss cross in the back with buttons, you can also get a variety of support for your child's age and activity level (I find the criss cross a bit more wearable for my almost 2 year old's love of play!)

I'll let Serena tell you more about it!

Spring is in the air and it's so close I can almost grasp it, but yet I live in Texas and the weather teases us here. Last week we had all four seasons in one week, yes one week! My favorite time to sew is for Spring and summer, I'm in love with fun halter tops and dresses. If you haven't yet checked out Ruby Jean's Closet, you should. The sweet little dresses scream all things Spring.

This my friends is the 'Pansy Sundress', how sweet is this? I made mine into the halter top option. There are so many different options when it comes to this dress; straps could be criss-cross or halter and there are three different length options, crop top, sundress, or maxi. The front bodice is open for you to do as you wish, this would even be perfect for monogramming.

-The pattern has detailed instructions for printing and trouble shooting and specific layout. -Sizing chart with actual measurements. -Formula for calculating yardage and cutting layout. -Pattern is full of color photos detailing every step as to not get off course. -Sewing glossary. I'm not a beginner at sewing but I'm also not an expert. This dress was easy to follow and only took me about an hour from start to finish. My daughter is 2 1/2 yrs old and wearing a 2t, I made the 2t and it fits a little big around the waist but the length is perfect. I bet by summertime it'll fit perfect! She loves her new top and I'm sure we'll be making many more.
