Balloon Cover by Little Lizard King

Today we show off the party favor of the year - or really just the most fun thing you will sew for your kids this year!  That's right, I'm talking about the Balloon Cover's by Little Lizard King.  Here's Jeanine and Becca with the full review!

Do your kids love balloons as much as my kids do? Both my almost 4yr old and almost 2yr old are obsessed! Of course they are very rough on them and don't understand why they shouldn't throw balloons against their pointy toys, because as you know, stegosaurus just REALLY wanted to play balloon with them! The Cheeks (almost 2yr old) then starts crying when the balloon inevitable pops because the noise scares her, and we scramble trying to find all the pieces before one ends up in someones mouth.

Well, here is a pattern that can help you with ALL those issues, I mean what a brilliant idea! A cover for balloons!!! I was soooo excited to see Little Lizard King release this pattern and even more excited when I got to sew and review it!

You can choose to do a 9" or 12" balloon cover and with each of those sizes you can choose 6 or 8 panels. I made the 9" covers with 6 panels each.

The covers sew up VERY fast! It was really a naptime sew to get both covers cut and sewn and a great beginner pattern. The directions are very clear and to the point and the pattern pieces are very few.
I loved that this project let me use those long pieces of fat quarter scraps I had no clue what to do with!
These would be great party favours or gifts and a great stash buster!

To use you simply insert the balloon into the end with the fold over slit and blow up the balloon inside the cover.

One of my favourite features of this pattern is how the cover muffles the sound when the balloon pops (no crying young one) AND keeps all the pieces inside! The pieces are very easy to empty out of the cover. I also love how the balloons really do last longer as they don't pop as easily.

Most of my pictures from both the photoshoots I tried ended up being the kids chasing the balloons and running after them and throwing them into the air and even the husband got in on the fun! So while the pictures may not be great, you can see the fun to be had!

and for moms... I love how the cover makes the balloon look like an extra pretty beach ball!

There are few things my kids love more than balloons. (Even if diva-pants up there won't share her enthusiasm with the camera!) Probably because they indicate a truly SPECIAL occasion! Like.. a certain someone's birthday, perhaps??

Alright, so I'm about 2 months late. (Busted!) But I owed little mister here birthday portraits, so of course - we went all out!  Cake, Balloons - and balloon COVERS included!

I collected some of our favorite (but in not-so-good condition) onesies from his first year of life, and I was pleased to find they were a perfect fit for 9-inch balloon panels!

Now, I feel like a total goof for not realizing this before... but the balloon covers WILL weigh down a helium balloon. For extra fun, I opted to stuff a few jelly beans in each balloon instead. Ta Da! An instant noise-making hit for any kid's party!

At 30 minutes'a'pop, these covers are kinda like potato chips. You can't have just one! I made a handful for Everett, and one for big sis who couldn't help but get in on the birthday action.

Now, just add copious amounts of sugar for a truly spectacular time!
