The Naples Blog Tour

Raedene here from Chasing Mermaids. So excited to be on The Naples Blog Tour representing Pattern Revolution. One look at this Naples pattern and I knew it would be perfect for our beach days. The fun butterfly sleeves and crisscross bodice caught my attention and reminded me of easy, breezy, sun-filled days! We chose to make the tunic version with gathered straight skirt and butterfly sleeves. My little one is NOT a dress loving gal, so when an option comes along to sew something girly I know she will wear, I go all out!

The pattern has many options included: wide size range(nb-12), three sleeve options, two skirt options, a crossover bodice with either bias ties or a button and looper. The back bodice piece can either be one piece or for those who need a placket for larger heads she provides that option as well. With all these options be sure to look at the line drawing included in the pattern. I love to print them and sketch/color what fabric prints will go where. It helps me wrap my mind around my creation!

Many thanks to Art Gallery Fabrics for the fabrics. I chose three prints from Pat Bravo’s new Essentials II line. The aqua print reminded me of bubbles; the tiny pink florals sang sunshine days and the pink stripes were subtle reminder of how many days of summer we have left to enjoy these beach days! You know how dreamy the feel of Art Gallery prints are these are no exception! I also chose some aqua solid knit to create leggings to tie all the print combinations together from the top to the bottoms. This knit has the perfect stretch and thickness for sweet leggings. And for this gal leggings are life!

I have recently received so many trims and buttons and was excited about all the ways to incorporate them into this tunic. I chose a picot bias trim that I get from Vintage Door on Etsy for the crossover bodice and ties. The burlap ribbon with little blue flecks and sweet wooden buttons I arrived the other day from The Little Red Cottage and were perfect coordinates for  a ”bohemian” style to this tunic! I mean check out those awesome sleeves!!! She thinks she can fly if she really tries!

Now a new outfit would not be complete without a matching dolly version. The Naples pattern is available in 18” doll size. The back has two separate pieces to allow littles to put on easily with velcro. One skirt and one sleeve option included. What a wonderful use of the leftover fabrics to create something your little one will cherish! This went together rather quickly.

We had so fun gathering shells, taking dolly for a walk and playing at the tree park across from the beach! Most importantly this little one is in LOVE with her new outfit!!! I can’t wait to make a set for my older gal too! Definitely a staple pattern for my growing girls!
