Designer's Challenge- My Treasured Heirlooms

aprondress615

I'm Annastasia Cruz of My Treasured Heirlooms I was thrilled when I was able to join the designer's challenge. I had been wanting to work on this dress and apron pattern set for a while but had never gotten around to it. This challenge got me working on it and I love it.

For me the challenge wasn't in the smocked apron, for me it was the under dress, I have always been nervous about making a pattern with an armhole and a sleeve and a collar, it was a lot of work and a lot of fun.

I have named this set Springtime Jubilee. The pattern is available in girls sizes 2 to 8
It includes the pattern for the apron which also comes with a geometric smocking plate, that includes puffing, to smock the bodice. Apron has halter ties around the neck and closes at the back waist with ties.

It also includes the pattern for the under dress that features a peter pan collar with puff sleeves and bound arm holes. Dress has button closure in the back.
In the pattern are step by step instructions with illustrated images for each step. Also given is simple seam finishing instructions as well as alternatives for heirloom finishing, which include french seams and bound seams.

Also included is the option to either print out all the rectangular pieces or you can use measurements from a chart so you can save on paper and printing. (sorry this pattern does not give instructions on how to smock)

Normal price is $12, buy using coupon code SPRINGTIMEJUBILE in checkout and get 25% off your entire purchase. Code ends Sunday March 1st.

Designer's Challenge- My Little Plumcake

Happy Friday everyone!  My name is Michelle Robertson and I am the designer behind My Little Plumcake.  I am so excited to share with you our Designer’s Challenge pattern.

Please let me introduce The Clementine Dress.  My inspiration for this dress is S-P-R-I-N-G!  If you are experience the harsh winter elements like me, then I am betting you feel me here.   It’s always this time of year I get busy sewing my little’s spring wardrobe.  Really, what else is there to do! This year, I am inspired by lightweight dresses that let my little twirl!  I also wanted to create something comfortable and easy to dress up for a special occasion.  And so, we have The Clementine!

I am kinda obsessed with chiffon at the moment, which is a great option for the skirt portion of this dress.  Chiffon offers tons of movement and is very comfortable on the skin.  The dress shown above has three layers of chiffon with a additional inside lining layer that is satin. The tutorial includes a list of skirt fabric recommendations as well as an optional lining layer for sheer fabrics.

I was really set on this design once I started shopping around for fabric.  Have you noticed all the great voile fabrics our favorite fabric designer’s have come out with lately?  Some of my favorite prints are now being printed on voile.  Don't get me wrong, I love cotton, but playing around with different fabrics can really be a lot of fun! This is the perfect dress to experiment using voile and other lightweight fabrics and was our inspiration behind this second look.  This fabric was chosen from the Art Gallery - Emmy Grace Collection.

We recommend knit be used for the bodice.  The tutorial goes into detail on how to work with knit and includes a section for beginners with tips on how to sew with knit fabric.

The front and back of this dress are identical.  Sizes for this pattern include: 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2T, 3T, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.
Whether your little loves lots of ruffles or maybe not so much, this pattern can fit many styles.  The Clementine Dress includes three skirt options.  Below, are some pictures to display the skirt options from our wonderful group of testers.
3 Tier - Lotta Ruffles, the More the Better!

2 Tier - Little Bit of Ruffle

1 Tier - Not the Frilly Type
