The Diane and the Frederic Patterns by Jalie

The Diane

I am planning to use the Diane for leotards for Miss P for dance in the fall, but she really needed swimsuits in the meantime so I decided to work on the fit with assorted swim prints from my stash (the floral is from Peek-a-Boo and the solids are a mystery lol). Miss P has a slim chest and super long torso, but an average waist and hips for her age (8.5). I ended up working with a blend of the sizes L and M, and the fit was really great for her. She picked this suit to wear to a swim party last weekend and it was perfect - no pulling or tugging, and no wardrobe malfunctions either. Just an easy suit to wear and play, and cannonball-proof, too!

The Frederic

I had originally planned on sewing this for my 6-year-old, but couldn’t resist making a zip hoodie for my Dad for Father’s Day instead! Jalie’s size range seriously can’t be beat, and the fit is spot on. I ended up sewing the size CC for my Dad - he’s a size large in most RTW but prefers to buy XLs especially for hoodies and jackets. I used a textured fleece for the burgundy and grey microfleece for the pockets, and I omitted the zippers on the pockets. I basically ambushed him on Father’s Day and asked him to model the Frederic as soon as he opened his gift, but as you can see he was thrilled with his jacket and didn’t mind. It was a hit!
