The Monaco Shorts by New Horizons

Hey y’all, it’s Jackie.  Today I want to talk to y’all about the Monaco Shorts.  This new release from New Horizons has such classic styling with the buttons and tulip hem.  I’ve found through the years that classically styled patterns give us the opportunity to really personalize an outfit.  Our family is big Florida State University fans, so garnet & gold is a prominent color scheme in our wardrobes. Miss 10 has outgrown all of her fan gear from our last visit to FSU, so she needed a new outfit.

I cut the shorts in a size 10 from a garnet colored duck cloth.  True to New Horizons style, the instructions were clear, and the pattern pieces fit together perfectly.  The pattern has only five pieces and is fully lined. I chose a coordinating aloha print that I’ve been saving for a few years for the lining.  I was able to make them much faster than I had anticipated. Quick sews are always appreciated. Four brushed gold buttons finished the look.

I paired the shorts with a golden ponte dolman tee from another designer, and she’s ready for the new football season.  As you can see from her smile, she’s ready to cheer on her team!
