Treasurie-My Childhood Treasures Leotard #2 and Wrap Top

Hey Everyone!

It’s Weatherly from Love and Lilies Designs and today I’m talking all about the Treasurie-My Childhood Treasures Leotard #2 and Wrap Top.  Now, let me start by saying that children grow up WAY TOO FAST!! It’s normal to feel excited and sad at the same time when signing your daughter up for her first dance class… right?! Enter, sewing therapy and these two patterns to the rescue.

For the leotard I used a 95/5 cotton lycra blend for the main bodice pieces and I used a sheer woven for the skirt. The pattern says to use a knit for the skirt and leave the edges raw but I couldn’t find any in time that I loved so all I did to alter it was cut on the bias so that it had a little stretch to it and extend the edge by ¼ inch, serge the edge and then folded it up towards the wrong side and top stitched it.

For the wrap top I used a straight 95/5 cotton lycra blend. My daughter is also taking gymnastics class so I love that I can just eliminate the skirt piece and use this pattern for that as well!

Both patterns include sizes 2-14.  It’s important to keep in mind that these patterns are designed to use with fabric that has a large amount of stretch (i.e. dance and swimwear fabric) and the finished product has a negative ease.  With patterns like this, especially if my little is in between sizes, I like to size up. The Leotard features a split bodices with optional skirts (ruffle or short circular) and bow. The top is a classic wrap style top with long sleeves that is perfect for layering over the leotard.  Both of these patterns are easy to follow and don’t have too many pieces to mess with making them great for beginners!

So, if you have a little in dance, gymnastics, or if you want to try your hand at a swimsuit, go ahead and give these patterns by My Childhood Treasures a try!  You’ll get a little sewing therapy in and your little will have a fun new leotard/wrap.
